New display driver chips are added, new phase micro will be launched soon

On April 4, the China Securities Regulatory Commission issued an approval for the registration of the initial public offering of stocks by Shanghai New Phase Microelectronics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as: New Phase Micro) and approved the company’s registration application for the initial public offering of shares.

Products adapted to TFT-LCD and AMOLED display technologies

It is understood that New Phase Micro's main business focuses on the R&D, design and sales of display chips, and is committed to providing complete display chip system solutions. The products are mainly divided into integrated display chips, separate display driver chips, and display power management chips. They cover full-size display panels in various terminal application fields and are adapted to the current mainstream TFT-LCD and AMOLED display technologies.

Among them, integrated display chips are widely used in mobile smart terminals and industrial control displays represented by smart wearables and mobile phones; separate display driver chips and display power management chips are mainly used in tablet computers, IT display equipment, TVs and commercial display fields.

Currently, integrated display chips are Xinxiang Micro’s main source of revenue. From 2019 to 2021 and January to June 2022, the composition of the company’s main business income is as follows:

In the prospectus, New Xiangwei stated that the company is one of the first domestic companies to achieve mass production of display chips. It has a comprehensive product layout, excellent R&D capabilities, a complete sales system, strong customer service capabilities and supply chain management capabilities, and is one of the leading display chip suppliers in mainland China. The company has established good cooperative relationships with mainstream panel manufacturers in the industry such as BOE and Shenzhen Tianma, as well as well-known domestic display module manufacturers such as Junqiu Electronics, Yihua Display, and Geili Optoelectronics.

Forward-looking layout of new display technology fields

Xinxiangwei believes that MiniLED backlight has the characteristics of higher color gamut, ultra-high contrast, higher dynamic range, and thinner display screen. The emergence of this technology has greatly reduced the display gap between LCD and OLED. The future development direction of MiniLED covers large, medium and small size LCD display backlights and LED displays.

Micro LED display has the characteristics of self-illumination, high efficiency, low power consumption, and high stability. It is an important choice for the next generation of mainstream display technology and has room for development in many application fields.

Therefore, Micro LED and Mini LED are the development direction of the next generation of display technology. As related technologies and processes gradually mature, the future application of Mini/Micro LED will be further accelerated. The continuous increase in the penetration rate of Mini/Micro LED will also bring new incremental markets for display driver chips. The demand for display chips in related fields will continue to increase, creating new growth points for companies with business and technology layout in related fields.

Currently, Xinxiang Micro is actively deploying in the field of Mini/Micro LED technology. Its research project "400CH high-precision MiniLED integrated display driver chip" plans to develop a MiniLED driver chip with high precision, stability, high efficiency, small area and low cost.

For this listing on the Science and Technology Innovation Board, Xinxiang Micro also lists Mini/Micro LED as one of its key directions. It is reported that the status of Xinxiang Micro's fundraising projects is as follows:

Among them, the "Hefei AMOLED display driver chip R&D and industrialization project" specifically includes: the R&D and industrialization of integrated AMOLED display driver chips for smart terminal displays and monitors and TVs, and the construction of AMOLED chip R&D software and hardware platforms.

The "Hefei Display Driver Chip Test Production Line Construction Project" plans to build a fully automated, high-quality and high-tech test production line to gradually reduce the outsourcing of chip testing links and achieve independent testing of the company's products. Xinxiang Micro said that after the completion of the test production line construction of this project, the company will have all-round testing capabilities such as Wafer incoming material appearance inspection, CP wafer testing, Die screening, and FT testing.

The "Shanghai Advanced Display Chip R&D Center Construction Project" plans to build an advanced display chip R&D center, which will be mainly used for the research and development of high-pixel density Mini/Micro LED driver chips and VR/AR advanced display driver chips, thereby realizing the company's R&D layout of forward-looking display technology and breaking the monopoly of foreign latest generation display driver chip technology and products.

In the future, New Phase Micro will continue to focus on providing advanced domestic display chips. By expanding investment in research and development, we will expand the company's product categories of TFT-LCD, AMOLED display driver chips and display power management chips, accelerate the development and industrialization of Mini/Micro LED display chips, and achieve more import substitution in the field of display chips with a richer product line and superior product performance.
