Taiwan’s LED companies’ revenue rose in July, and industry boom is expected to continue in the second half of the year

News on August 11, 2014 The latest data shows that in July 2014, eight LED chip companies in Taiwan, including Canyuan, Dingyuan, Guanghong, Guanglei, Huashang, Epistar, Taigu, and New Century Optoelectronics, had a total revenue of NT$5.01 billion (approximately RMB 1.027 billion), a year-on-year increase of 32.5% and a month-on-month increase of 0.5%. Nine LED packaging companies, including Baihong, Dongbei, Hongqi, Huaxing, Lizhou, Longda, Yiquan, Yiguang, Addison, etc., had a total revenue of NT$6.7 billion (approximately RMB 1.374 billion), a year-on-year increase of 13.2% and a month-on-month increase of 4.8%.

From January to July, the cumulative revenue of the chip side was NT$31.8 billion (approximately RMB 6.519 billion), a year-on-year increase of 26%, and the cumulative revenue of the packaging side was NT$42 billion (approximately RMB 8.61 billion), a year-on-year increase of 15%.

In this regard, some industry organizations expressed optimism about the prosperity of the LED industry in the second half of the year. After a slight month-on-month decline in the chip and packaging side in June, the chip and packaging side revenue increased again month-on-month in July. The prosperity in June this year was significantly better than that in the same period last year (due to off-season factors, chips fell by 10.3% month-on-month and packaging dropped 8.4% month-on-month), and in July they continued to rise month-on-month on this basis. It is enough to show that the high growth of LED lighting has a pulling effect on the entire LED industry. The proportion of lighting will surpass backlighting and become the main driving force for LED growth. It is a high probability that the LED industry's prosperity will continue in the second half of the year.
