With the arrest of Lin Xianglin, the entire process of the Lin family's escape to the Philippines, as well as the real reasons for the decline of such a large industry, gradually emerged.
Cross-border pursuit: Meeting the Xiamen police in a foreign country, he said, "I felt at ease"
According to data, Lin Weizhi fled to the Philippines with his family on February 15, 2012, two and a half years ago. During this period, the Xiamen police never "forgot" Lin Weizhi's family.
Since August, in conjunction with the Ministry of Public Security's "Fox Hunt-2014" special operation to arrest fugitive overseas economic crime suspects, the Economic Investigation Detachment of the Municipal Public Security Bureau has made breakthrough progress in the pursuit of Lin Weizhi's family. According to investigations, Lin Weizhi, his wife, and his son Lin Xianglin had appeared in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. The Xiamen police reported the case to the Economic Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, and the case was quickly supported by the Philippine Immigration Bureau. On September 10, the Philippines detained Lin Xianglin on the grounds of illegal stay and reported him to the Ministry of Public Security of my country. After receiving the notification, the Economic Investigation Detachment of Xiamen Municipal Public Security Bureau sent a working group to the Philippines to conduct the handover. On September 20, the police escorted the suspect Lin Xianglin back to Xiamen, but his father, Lin Weizhi, the owner of Xiamen Changguanhong Lighting Co., Ltd., had died in a foreign country.
The policeman of the Economic Investigation Detachment who participated in the escort said that when he met Lin Xianglin at a repatriation agency in the Philippines, he immediately said: "My heart is finally at ease. I look forward to you every day to send me back to the motherland as soon as possible."
Two and a half years of being on the run has been a nightmare for Lin Xianglin and his family.
It is understood that the Lin family, which was extremely famous in the eyes of outsiders, was in dire straits at that time. When Lin Xianglin, his father Lin Weizhi and other five people fled to the Philippines in the name of tourism, the whole family together only had 150,000 yuan.
When I arrived in the Philippines, I had no relatives. The whole family lived a homeless life with no fixed residence and moved guerrillas all day long. Because he is a fugitive, Lin Xianglin cannot find a good job and can only work as a temporary driver with a low income. The road to escape became increasingly desperate. Lin Xianglin's wife and children, who were fleeing together, could not bear the suffering and returned home early.
Lin Weizhi originally had a heart bypass surgery. After arriving in the Philippines, he was unable to receive normal treatment due to financial constraints and was worried and depressed. He died in a foreign country on August 5 this year. Police investigation revealed that until Lin Xianglin was escorted back to Xiamen, some death procedures for Lin Weizhi were still pending locally. After his father died, his mother often quarreled with Lin Xianglin. On August 10 this year, five days after her father died, she also ran away from home. It is said that she was going to the southern Philippines and has been out of contact since then.
"When Lin Xianglin was arrested, he only had more than 2,000 pesos, which is equivalent to more than 300 yuan in RMB." The handling police said that Lin Xianglin's life was very difficult, which was very different from that in China.
Reason for debt: Borrowing from one cent to fifteen cents, private lending swallowed up the rich
After Lin Weizhi’s family fled the Philippines, the reasons for the Lin family’s rapid decline have never been completely revealed. There was once a rumor that Lin Xianglin was deeply involved in gambling, which led to high debts. With the arrival of Lin Xianglin in the case, the real reason was slowly revealed - the private lending that demolished the east wall to pay for the west wall was the last straw that crushed the Lin family.
Investigation shows that Lin Weizhi started his business by producing lighting fixtures. The business that was originally going smoothly suddenly encountered trouble: a batch of lighting fixtures was supposed to be exported to the United States, but for various reasons, the American customer refused to pay more than 1 million US dollars in payment. At this time, Lin Weizhi's "Lighting Kingdom" began to have a financial crisis. Next, with the impact of the financial crisis, orders decreased. In order to maintain the operation of the business, the Lin Weizhi family began to borrow money from the private sector. At the beginning, it was only a monthly interest of 1.5 cents or 2.5 cents. Later, the monthly interest of 10 cents or 15 cents was also borrowed. His mode of operation was exactly the same as that of Chen Wei, the boss of Jingcheng Bank who ran away in the same year - he used the money borrowed at high interest rates from his employer to repay the debts of his family, which caused the capital hole to grow bigger and bigger.
Around 2010, the Lin family, which was already in deep financial trouble, saw that the pork market was doing well, so they placed their final bet on a pig farm in Sanming. To this end, they illegally raised more than 50 million yuan from more than 50 relatives and friends, using high interest rates as bait. Just when there were high hopes for pigs, the originally precarious capital chain finally collapsed in February 2012. The creditor once told reporters that three days before his escape, Lin Weizhi kept telling the creditors: "The bank loan will be released tomorrow. Tomorrow afternoon at the latest, or the money can be paid back to you at noon if possible." Everyone rushed to the factory and Lin Weizhi's home, only to wake up as if from a dream - Lin's family ran away overnight, and even left the country, fleeing to the Philippines. It is reported that more than 20 villagers in Mingxi Village, where the lighting factory is located, were robbed of a total of 4.7 million yuan by him, and even more people in the neighboring Guoxi Village were robbed of 12 million yuan by him. If you include the lighting factory suppliers who are owed money, Lin Weizhi's family's debt has exceeded 100 million yuan.
