At 9:40 pm on August 12, Lin Guanghua, the person in charge of Century Xinghao, a lighting merchant in Haikou Jinlu Decoration World, said in an interview that the three lighting merchants Century Xinghao, Xinwangjia, and Golden Ball that were affected by the fire were completely burned by the fire. Preliminary estimates indicate that the losses for each of them were more than 3 million yuan, and the total loss was tens of millions of yuan. Fortunately, no one was injured and the fire was extinguished at around 6 p.m.

At 14:50 that afternoon, reporters rushed to the scene and saw that the fire at the fire scene had been basically controlled, but there were still flames. Firefighters were putting out the fire at the scene. In order to prevent accidents among onlookers, fire officers and soldiers set up a cordon near the fire scene.

The reporter noticed at the scene that the fires mainly occurred in three lighting shops of Jinlu Lighting World and the adjacent Jinlu Farmers Market. Several groups of firefighters in Haikou put out the two fires. While firefighters were putting out the fire, explosions could be heard from time to time in the overheated lighting store, and thick smoke was still rising from the scene.

"It seems that the fire started first in the Jinlu Farmers' Market and then spread to the lighting shop in front." Mr. Zhang, an owner of Jinlu Garden, said that the time of the fire should be around 13:30 noon. He was taking a nap at the time and suddenly heard someone shouting "Fire! Fire!" outside. When he looked out the window, he saw flames and thick smoke billowing from the Jinlu Farmers' Market. In order to prevent himself from being choked by the thick smoke, he quickly closed the doors and windows.

What exactly caused the fire? Ms. Zhou, a nearby resident, said that according to her inquiries, the place where the fire first started may be a two-story shop in the Jinlu Farmers Market. The first floor of the shop is for selling groceries and welding operations, and the second floor is for accommodation. At that time, the couple in the shop were doing welding work on the first floor. After the neighbors saw smoke coming from the second floor, they quickly informed them.

"The couple tried to get water to put out the fire upstairs, but the fire was too strong and they had to flee the scene quickly." Ms. Zhou said that the fire spread with the wind and burned to the first floor. After burning the grocery store on the first floor, the fire spread to the adjacent grocery store until it burned into the farmer's market. Finally, it spread to the lighting store next to the market and burned to pieces.

Regarding the loss caused by the fire, a person in charge of Jinlu Lighting World Xinwangjia Lighting revealed that according to preliminary estimates, the fire caused them to lose 1 million yuan. He said that the fire had not spread to their store at that time, and the farmer's market behind it caught fire first. At first, he and several employees in the store tried to use a fire extinguisher to put out the fire at the farmer's market in the back, but the smoke was billowing and the fire extinguisher could not be put out at all. "Seeing that the fire could not be extinguished, I had no choice but to turn off the power switch in the store and organize the employees to move out in time."

"When I came back from lunch, I found that the store was on fire." A person in charge of Century Xinghao Lighting said helplessly that the fire caused heavy losses to their store, estimated at nearly 5 million yuan.

Subsequently, the reporter learned from the Haikou City Fire Brigade that for this fire, Haikou Fire Department dispatched 5 squadrons, including Guoxing, Bailong, Qiongshan, Changdi, and Jinpan, 15 fire trucks, and 85 officers and soldiers to the scene to fight the fire. After arriving at the scene, fire officers and soldiers evacuated personnel immediately and adopted the tactics of "control first and then eliminate" to put out the fire. At 14:30, the fire was under control. At 16:00, the fire was basically extinguished.

At present, the specific cause of the fire and the damage are still under investigation.
