Samsung plans to launch 76- to 114-inch Micro LED products and is considering applying them to smart watches

On October 16, Samsung Electronics released a video introducing their plans for Micro LED and showing users the development process of "Micro LED" and the technology behind it.

Samsung Electronics said it plans to promote Micro LED globally starting this year. In line with the market trend of ultra-large displays, the company also plans to expand its product lineup to 76-inch, 89-inch, 101-inch, and 114-inch sizes.

In addition, they are also considering Micro The application of LEDs extends to small displays such as advertising signs and smart watches.

Micro LED is a self-luminous display technology that uses ultra-small LED components in the micrometer (μm) range and are thinner than a human hair. It can emit light and color without the need for backlight or color filters.

According to reports, the size of LED components used in Samsung Electronics Micro LED is less than 50μm, which is only 10% of the LED components in general 100-type high-resolution B2B products.

In addition, the RGB devices used in Micro LED are inorganic materials, so there are no aging and screen burn-in problems, and can bring stable high brightness and image quality for more than 100,000 hours.

The query found that Micro LED can achieve higher brightness, color saturation, color reproduction, response speed, etc. than LCD.And it is self-illuminating, so it saves power.

OLED and Micro LED are also brighter, have longer lifespan, more stable performance, higher brightness and color saturation, and faster response speed.

In addition, the volume of Micro LED is about 1% of the size of current mainstream LEDs, and its application range is very wide. It can be applied to wearable devices such as bracelets and watches, to commercial billboards and public displays, and even VR or VR equipment, and its performance is better than traditional LCD panels and even OLEDs.
