Eindhoven, Netherlands-Signify (European Stock Exchange in Amsterdam: LIGHT), a global lighting leader, recently announced that its WiZ platform has become the first batch of smart connected lighting systems to join the Matter interconnection standard, which will promote the integration of Philips on the platform Smart LED series products are upgraded to adapt to Matter interconnection standards. Matter is a new industry unified open source interconnection standard that can realize seamless interaction between smart home lighting devices. The Connectivity Standards Alliance officially announced the establishment of the standard on May 11. This standard can be adapted, and a new generation of Philips smart LED products based on the WiZ platform will be launched in September 2021.

More convenient smart home lighting system

WiZ is the industry's first intelligent interconnected lighting platform that uses both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology, providing consumers with easy and convenient smart home lighting equipment pairing and connection. The WiZ platform is fully prepared for iterative upgrades, and the software will be upgraded after the Connectivity Standards Alliance announces the Matter interconnect standard. As the first batch of intelligent interconnected lighting systems to join the Matter interconnect standard, the WiZ platform will provide consumers with convenient plug-and-play settings, intuitive intelligent control, and a seamless interactive experience with other smart devices.

The WiZ platform that adapts to the Matter interconnect standard will help consumers easily and conveniently connect Philips smart LED products with other smart home devices.

Smart home lighting solutions using innovative technologies

In September 2021, the WiZ platform will usher in another milestone. All new products under the platform will be able to adapt to the Matter interconnect standard. At the same time, the platform plans to update the packaging of bulbs, light strips, downlights and other products on sale in the first half of 2022, and add the Matter logo.

"We are very proud to announce that Philips smart LED products using the WiZ platform will soon complete the connection with the Matter interconnect standard. This innovative industry unified interconnect standard will promote the development of smart homes and provide consumers with a seamless interactive experience. We will use the Matter interconnection standard to provide consumers with high-quality and easy-to-use smart home lighting products, create a comfortable home lighting experience, and further reduce the barriers to use." said Maikel Klomp, head of WiZ Connected business.

The future of the Internet of Things: Matter interconnection standards

The Matter interconnect standard originated from the Connected Home over IP (CHIP) project initiated by a number of IoT leaders. As an important part of the plan, Matter interconnection standards unify industry standards, optimize the smart home experience, and ensure safe and reliable connections between smart devices. The plan will be led by the Intelligent Interconnection Standards Alliance (formerly Zigbee Alliance), based on mature interconnection technology, simplifying the development process of manufacturers, and creating cross-platform ecological linkage for consumers.

The Intelligent Interconnection Standards Alliance expects to release the Matter Interconnection Standard in the fourth quarter of 2021. At that time, the WiZ platform will upgrade the software of all Philips smart LED products that adapt to the Matter interconnect standard to ensure that they can interact seamlessly and reliably with various voice assistants, smart speakers, smart TVs and smart temperature control devices.
